dNTPase is a broad-specificity dNTP-hydrolysing phosphatase that hydrolyses a deoxynucleoside triphosphate into the corresponding deoxynucleotide and triphosphate. By sanitising the dNTP pool it prevents non-canonical nucleotides from being incorporated into DNA and supports genome stability. It is distributed across Eukaryota and Bacteria and adopts a dNTP-pyrophosphatase fold.
