Dolichyl-phosphatase is a membrane-associated phosphomonoesterase that hydrolyses dolichyl phosphate into dolichol and inorganic phosphate. By recycling the lipid carrier used in N-linked protein glycosylation and in bacterial wall teichoic-acid assembly, it controls the availability of dolichol phosphate for glycan donor formation. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms and contains a transmembrane HAD-like phosphatase domain.
