Dye decolorizing peroxidase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.11 Acting on a peroxide as acceptor > 1.11.1 Peroxidases > 1.11.1.19 dye decolorizing peroxidase
Dye-decolorizing peroxidase is a heme protein with a proximal histidine ligand, secreted by basidiomycetous fungi and eubacteria. It resembles versatile peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.16) in oxidizing Reactive Black 5, phenols and veratryl alcohol, but differs by efficiently oxidizing recalcitrant anthraquinone dyes; it degrades Reactive Blue 5 with H2O2 into phthalate, azobenzene disulfonate and triazine amino-benzenesulfonate fragments.
