(E)-Beta-ocimene synthase is a class I monoterpene cyclase widely distributed in plants; plants release beta-ocimene as a volatile when attacked by herbivorous insects, serving as an indirect defense. It cyclizes geranyl diphosphate into (E)-beta-ocimene and diphosphate. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a monoterpene synthase.
