Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.8 Transferases for other substituted phosphate groups > 2.7.8.1 ethanolaminephosphotransferase
Ethanolaminephosphotransferase is the Kennedy-pathway phosphatidylethanolamine synthase. It transfers the phosphoethanolamine from CDP-ethanolamine onto 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol, releasing CMP and phosphatidylethanolamine, the major membrane phospholipid. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
