It hydrolyzes -His10-/-Leu-, -Ala14-/-Leu-, -Tyr16-/-Leu- and -Phe24-/-Phe- bonds in the insulin B chain. In venom it damages basement membranes and inhibits platelet aggregation. It features an M12-family zinc catalytic domain linked to a disintegrin domain.
