Flavin-containing monooxygenase (FMO) is a broad-spectrum flavoprotein accepting hydrazines, phosphines, boron compounds, sulfides, selenides, iodide and primary/secondary/tertiary amines; unlike other monooxygenases it forms a stable flavin-N5-oxide intermediate, N-oxidizing amines such as N,N-dimethylaniline to its N-oxide with NADPH and O2.
