Flavin prenyltransferase

Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.129 flavin prenyltransferase
Flavin prenyltransferase is a prenyltransferase that links a prenyl group to the N-5 and C-6 atoms of the flavin isoalloxazine ring, thereby adding a fourth non-aromatic ring and producing the modified flavin cofactor prenylated FMNH2 from prenyl phosphate and FMNH2, with release of phosphate. This prenylated FMNH2 is required by EC 4.1.1.98, 4-hydroxy-3-polyprenylbenzoate decarboxylase, and EC 4.1.1.102, phenacrylate decarboxylase.
