Galactonate dehydratase is an enolase-superfamily dehydratase in D-galactonate catabolism. It dehydrates D-galactonate into 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-galactonate and water, and shows no activity with D-gluconate (cf. EC 4.2.1.140). It is found in Bacteria, Eukaryota and Archaea.
