Geranyllinalool synthase is a diterpene cyclase/terpene alcohol synthase. With water it converts geranylgeranyl diphosphate into (6E,10E)-geranyllinalool and diphosphate. (E,E)-Geranyllinalool is the precursor of TMTT (4,8,12-trimethyl-1,3,7,11-tridecatetraene), a herbivore-induced volatile released by many plants in indirect defense. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a class I terpene synthase.
