Glucuronate reductase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.1 Acting on the CH-OH group of donors > 1.1.1 With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor > 1.1.1.19 glucuronate reductase
Glucuronate reductase catalyzes the NADP+-dependent oxidation of L-gulonate to D-glucuronate, concomitantly reducing NADP+ to NADPH and releasing H+; it also reduces D-galacturonate and may be identical with alcohol dehydrogenase (NADP+). It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
