Glutamine kinase is the Campylobacter jejuni capsule-modification enzyme. With ATP and water, it phosphorylates L-glutamine on the side-chain amide nitrogen, releasing AMP, phosphate and N5-phospho-L-glutamine, an activated amidino donor used for the O-methyl phosphoramidate modification of capsular polysaccharide sugars. Expected in Campylobacter jejuni.
