Glycochenodeoxycholate sulfotransferase is the bile-acid-detoxifying enzyme. It specifically sulfates glycochenodeoxycholate at the 7alpha-position, releasing adenosine 3',5'-bisphosphate and glycochenodeoxycholate 7-sulfate; glycolithocholate/cheno/ursodeoxycholate act as inhibitors. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
