GMP synthase (glutamine-hydrolysing) amidates XMP to GMP in de novo guanosine-nucleotide biosynthesis: ATP plus XMP plus L-glutamine plus water yields AMP plus diphosphate plus GMP plus L-glutamate. Structurally it is a GTP:GMP-synthase-type amidotransferase.
