Granzyme H
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.21 Serine endopeptidases > 3.4.21.B59 granzyme H
Granzyme H is a human cytotoxic chymotrypsin-like serine protease stored in the cytotoxic granules of NK cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes. It prefers bulky aromatic residues at P1 and acidic residues at the P3' and P4' positions, with preferential cleavage order Asp- >> Asn- > Met-, Ser-. Together with other granzymes it enters target cells through the perforin pore and induces apoptosis and antiviral responses. In humans it participates in immune defense against virally infected and transformed cells. It belongs to the chymase-like granzyme cluster with a compact globular serine-protease fold.
