Guanylate kinase is the GMP/GDP interconverting nucleoside-monophosphate kinase. It transfers the gamma-phosphoryl from ATP (or dATP) onto GMP, releasing ADP and GDP; dGMP can also act as acceptor. It supplies the GDP/GTP pool for translation and G-protein signaling. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
