Hormone-sensitive lipase is the broad serine hydrolase of adipocytes. It hydrolyzes tri-, di- and monoacylglycerols as well as cholesteryl esters, steroid esters, retinyl esters and p-nitrophenyl esters, preferring sn-1/sn-3 bonds; stimulated by cAMP-elevating hormones. Expected in Eukaryota, Bacteria and Archaea.
