Horrilysin
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.24 Metalloendopeptidases > 3.4.24.47 horrilysin
Ruberlysin is a 25-kDa hemorrhagic zinc metalloendopeptidase from the red rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber ruber) venom that cleaves fibrinogen, in peptidase family M12. It cleaves His10-/-Leu, Ala14-/-Leu, Tyr16-/-Leu and Gly23-/-Phe in the insulin B chain, His-/-Pro, Pro-/-Phe and Trp-/-Ser in angiotensin I, and Gly-/-Phe in Met-enkephalin. In venom it disrupts coagulation and peptide signaling. It features an M12-family zinc catalytic domain.
