Hyaluronoglucuronidase

Definition:

EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.2 Glycosylases > 3.2.1 Glycosidases, i.e. enzymes that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds > 3.2.1.36 hyaluronoglucuronidase
Hyaluronoglucuronidase is a hyaluronan-degrading endoglycosidase that randomly hydrolyses the (1->3)-linkages between beta-D-glucuronate and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in hyaluronate. By cleaving the glucuronate side of the hyaluronan disaccharide repeat it contributes to hyaluronan breakdown in tissues and microbial invasion. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms.
