Hydropyrene synthase is a diterpene cyclase isolated from Streptomyces clavuligerus. The 1-pro-R hydrogen of geranylgeranyl diphosphate is lost; it also produces hydropyrenol, isoelisabethatriene and traces of other diterpenoids (cf. EC 4.2.3.202 and EC 4.2.3.203). It cyclizes geranylgeranyl diphosphate into hydropyrene and diphosphate. Structurally it is a diterpene cyclase.
