Indanol dehydrogenase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.1 Acting on the CH-OH group of donors > 1.1.1 With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor > 1.1.1.112 indanol dehydrogenase
Indanol dehydrogenase catalyzes the NAD(P)+-dependent oxidation of indan-1-ol to indanone, concomitantly reducing NAD(P)+ to NAD(P)H and releasing H+. It also oxidizes 3(20)α-hydroxysteroids, although more slowly, and occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
