Ipsdienol synthase is a cytochrome P-450 heme-thiolate from the pine engraver beetle Ips pini, involved in insect aggregation pheromone production, hydroxylating myrcene mainly to (R)-ipsdienol (a little (S)-ipsdienol); in vitro it also hydroxylates (+)/(−)-α-pinene, 3-carene and (+)-limonene.
