Isomaltosyltransferase

Definition:

EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.4 Glycosyltransferases > 2.4.1 Hexosyltransferases > 2.4.1.387 isomaltosyltransferase
Isomaltosyltransferase is a bacterial transglucosidase found in organisms that produce cyclobis-(1->6)-alpha-nigerosyl. Acting on products of EC 2.4.1.24, it catalyzes the alpha-(1->3) transfer of the isomaltosyl moiety of one substrate onto another, forming alpha-isomaltosyl-(1->3)-alpha-isomaltosyl-alpha-(1->4)-glucan. It also catalyzes intramolecular cyclization of the product, eventually generating cyclobis-(1->6)-alpha-nigerosyl. It is characterized from Sporosarcina globispora.
