Isonocardicin synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.38 isonocardicin synthase
Isonocardicin synthase is a Nocardia uniformis beta-lactam antibiotic methyltransferase. It catalyzes an S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methylation that converts nocardicin G to isonocardicin C, releasing S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine; it similarly acts on nocardicin E and F to produce isonocardicin A and B. The in vivo substrate is believed to be nocardicin G. It participates in nocardicin A biosynthesis.
