K-562R

Definition:

K-562R is an imatinib-resistant derivative of the human K-562 chronic myeloid leukemia cell line; Cellosaurus records K562R and K562-R as aliases and traces it to K-562, which originated from pleural effusion in blast-phase BCR::ABL1-positive chronic myeloid leukemia[1]; The derivative is a hematopoietic cancer subline selected for altered drug response rather than an independently established tumor line. K-562R is represented in ChEMBL bioactivity records and is used to compare imatinib-sensitive parental cells with resistant cells in pharmacological studies[1][2]; because independently generated K562-resistant models also exist, the accession CVCL_5950 should accompany the name in database records.
