Kanamycin kinase is the aminoglycoside-resistance 3'-kinase. It phosphorylates kanamycin (and neomycin, paromomycin, neamine, paromamine, vistamycin, gentamicin A; the Pseudomonas aeruginosa enzyme also butirosin) on the 3'-hydroxyl, releasing ADP and kanamycin 3'-phosphate, inactivating the aminoglycoside. Expected in Bacteria and Eukaryota.
