Saccharolysin is an 83-kDa cytosolic thiol-dependent zinc metalloendopeptidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in peptidase family M3 (thimet oligopeptidase family). It cleaves Pro-/-Phe and Ala-/-Ala bonds. In the yeast cytosol it contributes to oligopeptide turnover. It features a thimet-like zinc catalytic chamber.
