Limulus clotting factor B
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.4 Acting on peptide bonds (peptidases) > 3.4.21 Serine endopeptidases > 3.4.21.85 limulus clotting factor B
Limulus clotting factor B is a horseshoe-crab serine protease in family S1 from haemocyte granules of Limulus and Tachypleus, activated by limulus clotting factor C; it selectively cleaves the Arg98-Ile bond in limulus proclotting enzyme to form active clotting enzyme. By propagating the LPS-triggered cascade it drives horseshoe-crab haemolymph clotting. It is taxonomically restricted to Tachypleus tridentatus.
