Linalool dehydratase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.1 Hydro-lyases > 4.2.1.127 linalool dehydratase
Linalool dehydratase is a bifunctional linalool dehydratase-isomerase. In the absence of oxygen it catalyzes two in vitro reactions: the hydration of myrcene into (3S)-linalool (this entry) and the isomerization of (3S)-linalool into geraniol (EC 5.4.4.4). It appears in viruses and cellular organisms, participating in anaerobic monoterpene degradation by bacteria. Structurally it is a linalool dehydratase/isomerase.
