Linoleate diol synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.13 Acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen (oxygenases) > 1.13.11 With incorporation of two atoms of oxygen > 1.13.11.44 linoleate diol synthase
Linoleate diol synthase is a heme-containing bifunctional enzyme: oleate and linolenate are also substrates, whereas stearate, elaidate, γ-linolenate, arachidonate and eicosapentaenoate are not. It differs from lipoxygenase (EC 1.13.11.12) because it forms a hydroperoxide without rearranging the substrate double bonds.
