Methylmalonyl-CoA mutase requires a cobamide coenzyme, isomerizing (R)-methylmalonyl-CoA into succinyl-CoA as the vitamin B12-dependent step in propionate catabolism. It is found in Eukaryota, Bacteria and Archaea. Structurally it is a cobalamin-dependent mutase.
