(-)-Camphene synthase is a monoterpene cyclase. In Abies grandis (grand fir), (-)-camphene is the major product with traces of other monoterpenoids; in Pseudotsuga menziesii (Douglas-fir) it gives about equal parts (-)-camphene and (-)-alpha-pinene; in Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) tricyclene, beta-myrcene and limonene are also formed. It cyclizes geranyl diphosphate into (-)-camphene and diphosphate. It appears in viruses and cellular organisms. Structurally it is a monoterpene cyclase.
