(-)-Cyclopenine synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.11 With 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into each donor > 1.14.11.81 (-)-cyclopenine synthase
(-)-Cyclopenine synthase is a fungal 2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase in quinolone biosynthesis. It first desaturates cyclopeptine to dehydrocyclopeptine (releasing H2O), then monooxygenates the double bond to an epoxide, yielding (-)-cyclopenine; it is also active on 4′-methoxycyclopeptine.
