EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.2 Glycosylases > 3.2.1 Glycosidases, i.e. enzymes that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds > 3.2.1.135 neopullulanase
Neopullulanase is a pullulan-hydrolysing amylase that hydrolyses pullulan into panose (6-alpha-D-glucosylmaltose), distinct from pullulanase (EC 3.2.1.41) and isopullulanase (EC 3.2.1.57). By attacking alpha-1,4 linkages in the alpha-1,6-linked pullulan backbone it supports starch and polysaccharide utilisation in microbes. It is distributed across Bacteria, Eukaryota and Archaea.
