Nephthenol synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 4 Lyases > 4.2 Carbon-oxygen lyases > 4.2.3 Acting on phosphates > 4.2.3.149 nephthenol synthase
Nephthenol synthase is a Mg2+-dependent diterpene cyclase from Streptomyces sp. SANK 60404; two isozymes are known. The DtcycA-encoded enzyme also produces cembrene C (EC 4.2.3.148), while the DtcycB-encoded enzyme also produces (R)-cembrene A and (1S,4E,8E,12E)-2,2,5,9,13-pentamethylcyclopentadeca-4,8,12-trien-1-ol (EC 4.2.3.150/151). With water it converts geranylgeranyl diphosphate into (R)-nephthenol and diphosphate. Structurally it is a cembranoid cyclase.
