Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.5 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups > 2.5.1 Transferring alkyl or aryl groups, other than methyl groups (only sub-subclass identified to date) > 2.5.1.142 nerylneryl diphosphate synthase
Nerylneryl diphosphate synthase is a cis-prenyltransferase isolated from Solanum lycopersicum (tomato). It condenses one molecule of dimethylallyl diphosphate with three molecules of isopentenyl diphosphate, releasing three molecules of diphosphate and producing nerylneryl diphosphate, the precursor of cis-polyisoprenoid-derived terpenes in tomato glandular trichomes. The enzyme occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
