Nitrogenase (flavodoxin)
Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.19 Acting on reduced flavodoxin as donor > 1.19.6 With dinitrogen as acceptor > 1.19.6.1 nitrogenase (flavodoxin)
Nitrogenase (flavodoxin) uses a dedicated flavodoxin instead of ferredoxin to feed electrons (at ATP expense) to the Mo/V/FeFe dinitrogenase, reducing N2→NH3 (also acetylene, azide, cyanide) with H2 evolution.
