EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.13 With NADH or NADPH as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor > 1.14.13.250 nitrosourea synthase
Nitrosourea synthase from Streptomyces achromogenes subsp. streptozoticus catalyzes a complex multistep oxidative rearrangement of the guanidine group of Nω-methyl-L-arginine during streptozotocin (glucosamine-nitrosourea antibiotic) biosynthesis. Overall Nω-methyl-L-arginine plus 2 NADH and 3 O2 gives Nδ-hydroxy-Nω-methyl-Nω-nitroso-L-citrulline.
