Nucleoside oxidase

Definition:

EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.1 Acting on the CH-OH group of donors > 1.1.3 With oxygen as acceptor > 1.1.3.28 nucleoside oxidase
Nucleoside oxidase is an oxidoreductase acting on purine and pyrimidine nucleosides (including 2'-deoxyribonucleosides), but not on ribose or nucleotides. The overall reaction proceeds in two separate steps: a 5'-dehydro nucleoside is released and serves as substrate for the second step; with inosine as substrate it yields 9-riburonosylhypoxanthine and H2O, differing from the H2O2-forming nucleoside oxidase EC 1.1.3.39.
