Nucleoside phosphotransferase
Definition:
EC Tree > 2 Transferases > 2.7 Transferring phosphorus-containing groups > 2.7.1 Phosphotransferases with an alcohol group as acceptor > 2.7.1.77 nucleoside phosphotransferase
Nucleoside phosphotransferase is a nucleotide-to-nucleoside phosphate-exchange enzyme. It transfers the 5'-phosphate from a nucleotide donor (5'-nucleotides best, 3'-nucleotides and phenyl phosphate less well) onto a ribo- or deoxyribonucleoside acceptor, releasing a nucleoside and the corresponding 5'-phosphate. Expected in Eukaryota and Bacteria.
