Nucleotide diphosphokinase is the (p)ppGpp-stringent-response synthetase. It transfers a pyrophosphoryl group from ATP onto the 3'-OH of nucleoside 5'-mono-, di- or triphosphates (especially GTP/GDP), releasing AMP and the 3'-diphosphate (guanosine tetraphosphate or pentaphosphate), the bacterial stringent-response alarmone. Expected in Bacteria and Eukaryota.
