Oxazoline synthase
Definition:
EC Tree > 6 Ligases > 6.2 Forming carbon-sulfur bonds > 6.2.2 Amide—thiol ligases > 6.2.2.2 oxazoline synthase
Oxazoline synthase requires Mg2+. It participates in ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptide (RiPP) natural-product biosynthesis, converting L-cysteine, L-serine and L-threonine residues into thiazoline, oxazoline and methyloxazoline rings respectively. It requires two domains: a YcaO cyclodehydratase domain and a substrate-recognition element (RRE) domain that controls regiospecificity. Structurally it is a YcaO/RRE cyclodehydratase.
