Patchoulol synthase is a sesquiterpene cyclase from Pogostemon cablin. With water it converts (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate into patchoulol and diphosphate; patchoulol is the major sesquiterpene alcohol of patchouli oil used in perfumery. Structurally it is a plant sesquiterpene cyclase.
