Definition:
EC Tree > 1 Oxidoreductases > 1.14 Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen > 1.14.13 With NADH or NADPH as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor > 1.14.13.50 pentachlorophenol monooxygenase
Pentachlorophenol monooxygenase is an FAD-containing flavoprotein displacing various substituents from C4 of polyhalogenated phenols but requiring a halogen at C2; if C4 bears a halogen, it forms 2,3,5,6-tetrachloro-1,4-benzoquinone and chloride; if C4 is unsubstituted, it forms 2,3,5,6-tetrachlorohydroquinone.
