Definition:

EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.6 Acting on acid anhydrides > 3.6.3 Acting on acid anhydrides to catalyse transmembrane movement of substances > 3.6.3.43 peptide-transporting ATPase
Peptide-transporting ATPase is an ABC-type ATPase with two similar ATP-binding domains that does not become phosphorylated; it exports alpha-hemolysin, cyclolysin, colicin V and siderophores from Gram-negative bacteria, and bacteriocin, subtilin, competence factor and pediocin from Gram-positive bacteria. It hydrolyzes ATP to export peptides. In bacterial secretion it pumps out toxins and bacteriocins. It features an ABC transporter.
