Perakine reductase: the biosynthesis of raucaffrinoline from perakine is a side route of the ajmaline biosynthesis pathway, and this enzyme is a member of the aldo-keto reductase superfamily from higher plants. Written oxidatively, it converts raucaffrinoline to perakine, concomitantly reducing NADP+ to NADPH and releasing H+. It has been reported from Rauvolfia serpentina.
