Phenyllactate glucosyltransferase is a glycosyltransferase characterized from Atropa belladonna (deadly nightshade). It transfers a glucosyl residue from UDP-alpha-D-glucose onto (R)-3-(phenyl)lactate, releasing UDP and producing (R)-3-(phenyl)lactylglucose. It participates in the conjugation and detoxification of phenyllactic acid secondary metabolites in Solanaceous plants.
