Phloretin hydrolase
Definition:
EC Tree > 3 Hydrolases > 3.7 Acting on carbon-carbon bonds > 3.7.1 In ketonic substances > 3.7.1.4 phloretin hydrolase
Phloretin hydrolase also hydrolyzes other C-acylated phenols related to phloretin; it is isolated from the fungus Aspergillus niger and the bacteria Pantoea agglomerans and Eubacterium ramulus, found in eukaryotes and bacteria. It hydrolyzes phloretin into phloretate and phloroglucinol. In flavonoid degradation it cleaves the dihydrochalcone. It features a C-C hydrolase fold.
