Phosphoenolpyruvate mutase

Definition:

EC Tree > 5 Isomerases > 5.4 Intramolecular transferases > 5.4.2 Phosphotransferases (phosphomutases) > 5.4.2.9 phosphoenolpyruvate mutase
Phosphoenolpyruvate mutase participates in C-P bond biosynthesis, although equilibrium strongly favors phosphoenolpyruvate; it is the committed step in fosfomycin and other phosphonate pathways. It interconverts phosphoenolpyruvate and 3-phosphonopyruvate. It is found in Bacteria, Eukaryota and Archaea. Structurally it is a PEP mutase.
