Phosphoglycerate kinase is the ATP-generating glycolytic kinase. It transfers the acyl-phosphate from 3-phospho-D-glycerate (1,3-BPG) onto ADP, releasing 3-phospho-D-glycerate and ATP, the first substrate-level phosphorylation of glycolysis. It occurs in viruses and cellular organisms.
